GULFPORT, Miss. - The 2024 season came to an end as Bethune-Cookman rode the strength of a three-run first inning as they handed TSU a 3-1 loss in the SWAC Tournament.
The Wildcats led the game off with back-to-back singles and loaded the bases with one out. They would score on an RBI groundout and a two-RBI single for a 3-0 lead after the top of the first. TSU had opportunities to get back into the contest as they had three innings with two runners on. However, they couldn't capitalize on the opportunities offensively as the Wildcats closed out the contest with the win.
Marisa Perla led TSU with two hits while Madison Griggs had two walks. Despite a tough first inning, Madalynn Gonzales held her own with six scoreless innings as she struck out two.
