7th Inning Home Runs Fuels Softball's 4-2 Win Over Southern

BATON ROUGE, La. - Tamera Mcknight and Julia Bilbao hit back-to-back homers in the seventh as TSU opened up a key SWAC series with a 4-2 win over Southern on Friday.
 
Southern jumped ahead 1-0 in the second but TSU tied it at 2-all as Jordan McClain led the inning off with a triple and scored on Bilbao's RBI. Southern moved ahead 2-1 in the third on a two-out RBI single but TSU once again responded in the fourth on Mila Rodriguez's solo homer.
 
Both teams went scoreless until the seventh as McKnight hit a one out homer followed by Bilbao's solo shot. SU had a runner on in the seventh but Jazmine Gendorf retired the side for the win.
 
Gendorf went the distance as she allowed only four hits with a strikeout while Rodriguez finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and run scored. Bilbao had two RBI, a hit and run scored.
 
The series concludes with a 12 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
