PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Texas Southern University's Jasmin Fulmore continued her run of excellence in the pitcher's circle as she led the Lady Tigers to a 7-0 win Friday at Arkansas–Pine Bluff.
Â
Fulmore struck out seven batters and allowed only three hits and walked one en route to her third shutout of the season, and first to last all seven innings.
Â
The Lady Tigers (14-11) improved to 5-2 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play with the victory. Arkansas–Pine Bluff (9-21) fell to 4-6 in league play.
Â
With the shutout of the Golden Lions, Fulmore has now pitched 29 consecutive innings without giving up an earned run. She improved her season record to 6-2, and has picked up the win in her last five starts.
Â
At the plate, the Lady Tigers gave Fulmore plenty of run support as TSU scored four runs in the third inning to take a comfortable lead. Gisella Paranich opened the scorin that inning with a bases-loaded double, and then came home when Sierra Valdez knocked a single on the 14th pitch of her at-bat against UAPB pitcher Kiara Beth Hall.
Â
Paranich and Valdez each knocked two base hits in the game for the Lady Tigers, as did Madilynn Marek and Dominique Tello. Valdez tallied two RBIs, while Marek drove in a run with an RBI single in the top of the sixth that allowed Jocilynn Ellis to score the second of her two runs in the game.
Â
The Lady Tigers and Golden Lions conclude their three-game series Saturday with a doubleheader that begins at noon at the Torii Hunter Baseball, Softball and Little League Complex.
