Texas Southern falls 5-0 at Texas

AUSTIN – The Lady Tigers of Texas Southern University prepared for a return to conference play with a tough non-conference game Wednesday, falling 5-0 at the University of Texas.
 
Tyra Williams pitched five and one-third innings and gave up only three earned runs to the Longhorns, while scattering seven hits and striking out two batters.
 
Terren Vinson, Madilynn Marek, and Kelsey Riley all had base hits for the Lady Tigers.
 
Taylor Ellsworth's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning was the game-winning RBI for Texas.
 
The Lady Tigers return to action Friday when they open a three-game series against Prairie View A&M. PVAMU and Texas Southern rank Nos. 1 and 2 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference's West Division.
