Lady Tigers take series opener from Southern

BATON ROUGE, La. – Texas Southern University's Lady Tigers returned to their winning ways Friday with a 5-3 win at Southern.
 
Jasmin Fulmore won her sixth consecutive start for the Lady Tigers (16-12, 7-3 SWAC), pitching all seven innings and striking out seven batters while allowing only two earned runs.
 
Southern (11-15) fell to 3-6 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
 
Chanler Powell and Marissa Padron had TSU's only two RBIs in the game. The Lady Tigers also got a pair of runs in the fourth thanks to two Southern errors on the same play.
 
The Lady Tigers and Jaguars conclude their series Saturday with a doubleheader.
