Box ScoreHOUSTON- Texas Southern improved to .500 on the year with an 11-3 victory over Mississippi Valley State Thursday.
The Lady Tigers took control of the contest for good during the third and fourth innings. With a 1-0 lead over MVSU entering the third, TSU put up four runs as Krystalani Yockman hit a two-run double, Precious Alvizo stole home and Amber Garza delivered a RBI base-hit.
Alexandra Dobbins lessened the gap for MVSU with a two-run homer in the fourth, but TSU responded with another four-run inning as Chanler Powell, Yockman, Garza and Marisa Padron each collected RBI hits to chase MVSU starter Rebekah Clinton, who dropped to 3-9 on the season after allowing nine runs on 11 hits in 3.2 innings.
Annaisa Sanchez hit a solo shot for Mississippi Valley in the fifth, but Powell and Haley Smith each picked up a RBI to seal it.
Jasmine Fulmore improved to 4-2 for the Lady Tigers, striking out four in 1.2 innings of relief. Powell was 4-for-4 with three RBI, and Yockman was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI.
