UTA Softball Invitational Day Two Update

Texas Southern versus Northern Colorado

ARLINGTON, Texas – Texas Southern was unable to get the bats going in a 1-0 setback versus Northern Colorado during the UT-Arlington Invitational.

Haley Smith went 2-for-3 on the day for the Lady Tigers, who stranded seven runners on base and went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position.
Northern Colorado's Rachel Johnson accounted for the lone run of the game, when she singled to left in the top of the first inning to score Cheyenne Talmadge.

TSU's Lauren Rodriguez got the loss in a complete game effort, despite allowing three hits and one earned run with two strikeouts. Northern Colorado's Jayme Reddacliff allowed three hits and fanned 12 batters.
 
Texas Southern versus Missouri State

ARLINGTON, Texas – Texas Southern dropped a 9-4 contest to Missouri State during day two of the UT-Arlington Invitational Friday.

The Lady Tigers fell behind early as Missouri State built a 6-0 lead in the first inning. TSU cut the deficit to four in the second inning as Marisa Maldonado and Miranda Rodarte each drove in a run, but the Lady Bears were able to add to their advantage in top of the third to make it 8-2.

Krystalani Yockman hit a two-run shot over the fence in the bottom of the frame to make the game 8-4. Missouri State added an insurance run in the top of the seventh for the final margin. Rodarte was 3-for-4 at the plate, and Yockman was 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Kaitlin Beason led the Bears at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBI and two runs scored.
