DECATUR, Ala. – Texas Southern University defeated Alabama State University 2-1 on Thursday afternoon at Wilson Morgan Park as the Lady Tigers now sit one win away from a championship game berth.
Brianna Simpson grabbed her second homerun of the season, putting the first run on the board for the Lady Tigers.
Neither team would score again until the top of the sixth inning when the Hornets used a double to score a runner, making the score 1-1. The Lady Tigers used a single by Kierra Patton to right field to break the tie, claiming a 2-1 victory over the Hornets in the seventh.
Jasmin Fulmore was credited the win and allowed no hits from ASU until the top of the fifth when ASU singled to right field to take first. She tossed a total of five strikeouts and only gave out one walk.Â
Texas Southern will face Alabama State on Friday at 2:30 pm.Â
